Many people are surprised to find that our law firm handles probate cases. After all, we spend a lot of time teaching people how to avoid probate! However, not everyone has a living trust and many people die without a will or a trust. I can tell you from experience that probate is usually expensive and time consuming. Even the simplest probate case will take at least six weeks to complete and cost your family at least a few thousand dollars. Usually, probate takes longer and can be much costlier than careful estate planning. Some cases remain open for many years incurring attorney's fees and expenses.
